SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Science Fair Judges Needed
The Corner Conference Science Fair will be held at Fremont-Mills on Monday, November 25th. Each school is asked to bring five judges to help evaluate the projects. Typically, judging takes place in the morning with lunch provided. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Mrs. Erickson (cerickson@stantonschools.com), or Mrs. Irr (eirr@stantonschools.com).
Veterans Day Program
The Jr/Sr Government class is again honoring Veterans with a Veterans Day Program at the High School gym on Monday, November 11th, at 10:00 a.m. A special invitation to known veterans in the area has been sent via mail, however, we want to extend that invitation to all community members in Stanton and surrounding communities. This year we will focus on the Vietnam War Era, with slide show presentations of local veterans who served during that time.
Also, at 8:45 a.m. veterans and their spouses are invited to breakfast at the high school cafeteria sponsored by FMTC. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to the high school office at (712) 829-2162 by November 8th.

Building the Future-ISU Middle School Engineering Day
Building the Future is an outreach activity of the Iowa Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi–The Engineering Honor Society. The event brings middle school students and their teachers to the ISU campus to experience hands-on-engineering. The activities are all based around the scenario of a tornado hitting a small Iowa town and what engineers can do to help. Following a general session at the beginning of the day, the students will undertake 4 different activities all specially designed to introduce them to various types of engineering. The day concludes with a general session about what they learned that different engineers do.
Eleven Stanton middle school students will be attending this event on November 14th!
Honor Band
Congratulations to Riley Burke who was selected to participate in the 2019 Southwest Iowa Bandmasters Association Middle School Honor Band. She was among 43 trombonists who auditioned for a spot on Saturday and was one of two students selected from the Corner Conference. She will be performing with other select students at Denison High School on November 15th at 7:30 p.m.
4th Graders Helping Veterans
In honor of Veteran's Day, the Stanton 4th Graders will be collecting some items to help veterans in Kansas City. Last year the students sent cards to this organization, and this year we decided to go a step further. We are collecting new chap sticks, hand/feet warmers, and hats. If you have any items you would like to donate, please drop them off at the elementary or give to a 4th grade student. The deadline for this has been extended to Monday, November 11th. For more information, visit the link below.
