2019 Yearbooks
The yearbook staff has three 2019 yearbooks left. The cost is $60. If you are interested in purchasing one please call the high school office at 712-829-2162.Get one before they are all gone!
Music Meal
Stanton Music Parents' are hosting a Walking Taco Supper tonight, before the CAM game. Come on out and support the Music Department and the Stanton/Essex Vikings. Supper will be served from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at a cost of $5.00. Then stay for football action with CAM. All proceeds will go to the Music Department.
Homecoming
Homecoming preparations are underway for September 27th. This year the theme is “Western”.
The festivities begin with spirit week with each day having a theme. Students are asked to show their school spirit and dress accordingly.

The Homecoming Pep Rally and Coronation will be held on September 26th at 7:00 p.m. The parade is September 27th at 1:30 PM. and the game against the East Mills starts that evening at 7:00 PM.
Homecoming Parade Entries
Homecoming is on Friday, September 27th. All commercial parade entries should contact Jody Druivenga in the Elementary Office at 829-2171 so that your entry can be listed in the Homecoming program. Stanton, Villisca, Red Oak, Essex or any other town businesses are welcome to have a float in the parade.
The “Kiddie Parade” is always a popular part of the parade. There are three categories for the “Kiddie Parade”–Vehicle, Pet and Costume. All students in 6th grade and below are encouraged to participate and show their enthusiasm and pride in support of our Vikings! Sign up for the “Kiddie Parade” will begin at 12:45 PM. in front of John Wenstrand’s shop on Main Street. All entrants should be checked in prior to 1:15 PM. The Homecoming Parade begins at 1:30 PM.
ATHLETICS
Season Passes
Stanton fans that have purchased season passes please show the pass to the ticket taker at all the athletic events. If you have not purchased a season pass or any sport pass, they may be purchased from the high school office.
Casey’s/Stanton Gold Cards
The football and volleyball teams are selling Casey’s/Stanton Gold cards as a fundraiser. The school has the cards available for $20.00 in the high school office if interested. Great values on pizza, subs, gas, etc.
Viqueen Volleyball
The Viqueens traveled to Tabor on Thursday for their first corner conference match of the season. The junior varsity squad put up a good battle but dropped their match in two sets with scores of 16-21 and 18-21. In varsity action, the Queens got out to a good start with a 25-19 first set win but then dropped the next three sets with close scores of 22-25, 21-25 and 21-25.
On Tuesday, September 3rd, the Viqueens hosted a triangular with
Heartland Christian and Essex. In Junior Varsity action, the Viqueens were dominant in match wins over Essex (21-7 and 21-8) and Heartland Christian (21-12 and 23-21). The varsity squad took 25-14 and 25-6 wins over Heartland Christian and 25-8 and 25-9. The Queens will host Sidney for a conference match on Thursday, September 5th.
On Saturday, September 7th, the varsity squad will travel to Clarinda for the Clarinda Tournament. The Viqueens pool play schedule is as follows:
9:50 Stanton vs. St. Albert
10:40 Stanton vs. Clarinda
1:10 Stanton vs. Wayne
Following pool play, the top two teams in each pool will continue to tournament. Admission will be charged. Thank you for your continued support of the volleyball program!
Viking Football
The Vikings came up short Friday night while working to overcome some adversity that was beyond their control. The team has many things that can be fixed and is working hard to improve and will continue to strive for excellence. Tonight the Vikings will host their first home game of the season by defending their turf from the Cougars of CAM. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm. Go Vikings!
Junior High Volleyball
The junior high team is working hard on learning their rotation and improving their fundamental skills daily. The junior high volleyball team competed in their first match of the season on Thursday, August 29th, as they traveled to Tabor. The team won two of the four sets with scores of 22-25, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-19. On Thursday, the team will host Sidney for their first home match of the season slated to begin at 3:30. The junior Viqueens will travel to Clarinda Lutheran on Tuesday, September 10th, for a 4:00 match.

Youth Group
Youth group is starting for 6th-12th grade students on Wednesday September 4th! Everyone is welcome, no registration is necessary. We meet at the Covenant Church.
After School Bible Club
After School Bible Club starts on September 18th after school until 5:00 PM. It is open to kindergarten- 5th grade students. Go to www.stantoniowa.org and click "Bible club" to register.
5th Quarter
Fun, Food, and Friends- 7th-12th grades please come to Mamrelund Lutheran church basement after Friday night home football games. (Except homecoming) till 11:00 PM. Come “Hang out” with your friends. Anyone wishing to help support this through a monetary donation to help purchase food or to donate food please contact Susan Isaacson. Thanks so much in advance for helping our kids have a safe place to “Hang Out” after home Friday night games!

Ladies Fall Sign Workshop
Everyone is invited to a Ladies’ Fall Sign Workshop this Sunday, September 8th, at 2:00 PM at the Stanton Old Lumberyard Event Center. HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH
The Stanton School Board shall make reasonable efforts to identify homeless children and youth of school age within the district, encourage their enrollment and eliminate existing barriers to their receiving education which may exist in district policies or practices.
A homeless child is defined as a child or youth between the ages of 5 and 21 who lacks a fixed regular and adequate nighttime residence and includes a child or youth who is living on the street, in a car, tent, or abandoned building or some other form of shelter not designed as a permanent home; who is living in a community shelter facility; or who is living with non-nuclear family members or with friends, who may or may not have legal guardianship over the child or youth of school age.
Guidance Counselor Sheila Mainquist may be contacted at 712-829-2162 to be made aware of any homeless children or youth.
