Reminder of Breakfast Times:
Breakfast starts at 7:40 AM each morning and runs through 8:10 AM. If your child is a walker or is dropped off, they may arrive at the lunchroom at 7:40 AM to get their day started. This time will allow them to get breakfast eaten and arrive to class on time.
PICK UP ZONE
All STUDENTS, Kindergarten-12th, who are picked up after school are to be picked up in the “Pick Up Zone” upon dismissal. Parents are asked to use the drive that is west of the Viking Center and proceed around the back of the Viking Center and then pull in to the “Pick Up Zone” which is located in the drive between the High School building and the Viking Center. Thank you for your understanding!

Red Cross/FCCLA Blood Drive
FCCLA is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 19th, at the Viking Center from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Please call the High School office to schedule a time.
Homecoming
Homecoming preparations are underway for September 28th. This year the parade theme is “Hollywood Magic”
ATHLETICS
Season Passes
Stanton fans that have purchased season passes please show the pass to the ticket taker at the all athletic events. If you have not
purchased a season pass or any sport pass, they may be purchased from the high school office.
Casey’s Cards
The football and volleyball teams are selling Casey’s cards as a fundraiser for general athletic purchases. The school has the cards
available for $20.00 in the high school office if interested. Great values on pizza, subs, gas, etc.
US Cellular’s Most Valuable Coach
Help choose the most valuable coach by nominating a coach at www.TheMostValuableCoach.com by September 10th. The winning coach will be awarded a $50,000 school grant. Staring September 18th-November 13th help choose the finalist by voting.
Viqueen Volleyball
The Viqueens opened their season at home last Thursday night against the Knights of Fremont-Mills. In JV action, the Queens lost a three set match with scores of 26-28, 25-12 and 8-15. In varsity action, the Viqueens lost the match with set scores of 17-25, 17-25 and 23-25.
On Saturday, September 1st, the varsity squad traveled to Clarinda for the Clarinda Tournament. Bracket play consisted of matches against Shenandoah (14-21, 19-21), Tri-Center (8-21, 17-21), and Sidney (7-21, 13-21).
On Tuesday, September 4th, the Viqueens traveled to Council Bluffs to take on the Heartland Christian teams. The junior varsity teams posted wins in both of their games (25-5, 25-14) and the varsity squad won their match with a three set victory (25-14, 25-14, 25-17). The team traveled to Sidney on Thursday, September 6th, to take on the Sidney Cowgirls. Volleyball action next week includes the JV Triangular at Sidney on Monday, September 10th, (6:00 PM start time) and the teams host South Page on Tuesday, September 11th.
On Saturday, September 8th, the varsity squad will travel to Shenandoah for the Shenandoah Fillies Tournament. The Viqueens will play all of their pool play games in the High School. The schedule is as follows:
9:20 Stanton vs Lenox
10:10 Stanton vs. Essex
11:50 Stanton vs. Shenandoah
Following pool play, the eight teams will continue to tournament competition according to their seed from pool play. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Thank you for your continued support of the volleyball program!
Viking Football
The football team has opened their season much like last year and look forward to kicking off their district schedule at home tonight against Bedford. The last 2 seasons these teams have played each other on the last week of the regular season with the winner becoming the district champion. Although it is early in the season, you can bet the two teams will be placing their district championship dream on the line. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Junior High Volleyball
The junior high volleyball team hosted their first match of the season on Thursday, August 30th, as they hosted the junior high team from Fremont-Mills. The team won all sets with scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-14. On Tuesday, September 4th, the team traveled to Council Bluffs for a match against Heartland Christian. The team won all sets with scores of 21-9, 21-6, 21-17 and 14-10. On Thursday, the team traveled to Sidney. Next week, the team will host South Page/Clarinda Lutheran on Tuesday and travel to Bedford on Thursday.

Trick or Treat on the Trail
Stanton Betterment Association’s 12th Annual Trick or Treat on the Trail will be held on October 27th from 3:00-5:00 PM. They are in need of candy, groups to pass out candy, hayrack ride helpers and approximately 400 little goblins. 5th Quarter
Fun, Food, and Friends! 7th-12th grades are welcome to Mamrelund Lutheran Church basement on home Friday night football games (except Homecoming) till 11:00 PM to “Hang Out” with your friends! Anyone wishing to support this through monetary donation to help purchase food. Please contact Susan Isaacson or Marti Clark Moffett. Thanks so much in advance for helping give our “kids” a safe place to “Hang Out”!
Homecoming 2020 Plans Begin
Homecoming 2020 will be here before we know it! The Stanton Homecoming Committee is looking for ideas and volunteers to help us celebrate Stanton’s 150th Anniversary! The first meeting will be held on Sunday, September 23rd, at 5:00 in PM the Stanton Viking Center. If you are not able to attend but wish to be a part of the activities, please contact Jenna Ramsey at (712)829-2540. Everyone is welcome and invited to attend!

NOTICE TO PARENTS:
STUDENT LOCKERS AND DESKS – Although school lockers, desks and other spaces are temporarily assigned to individual students, they remain the property of the school district at all times. The school district has a reasonable and valid interest in ensuring the lockers, desks and other spaces are properly maintained. For this reason, lockers, desks and other spaces are subject to unannounced inspections and students have no legitimate expectations of privacy in the locker, desk or other space. Periodic inspections of all or a random selection of lockers, desks or other space may be conducted by school officials in the presence of the student or another individual. Any contraband discovered during such searches shall be confiscated by school officials and may be turned over to law enforcement officials.
The contents of a student’s locker, desk or other space (coat, backpack, purse, etc.) may be searched when a school official has reasonable and articulable suspicion that the contents contains illegal or contraband items or evidence of a violation of law or school policy or rule. Such searches should be conducted in the presence of another adult witness when feasible.
EDUCATIONAL RECORDS – The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students over 18 years of age (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. They are:
- The right to inspect and review the student’s educational records within 45 days of the day the district receives a request for access.
(2) The right to request the amendment of the student’s educational records that the parent or eligible student believes are inaccurate or misleading or in violation of the student’s privacy rights.
(3) The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s educational records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
