PRINCIPAL
I think the start of the year has gone well. The students have started the year in a positive way and the teachers, paras, kitchen staff, maintenance team, coaches and secretaries have all helped to make this start a successful one. We are always looking and planning ahead but we also focus on the day to day opportunities to make sure we focus on the students each day and what we all can do as a team to make their educational experiences positive and successful.
We have 22 non-certified staff. Throughout the year we want to recognize them. They spend a lot of time with the students and staff and we would not be successful without them. This week we want to recognize Melissa Yeager. Melissa is married to Chet Yeager. They have 2 older daughters, Chelsey and Amanda, that graduated from Stanton. Their son, Max is currently a 7th grader here. This is Melissa's 14th year here as a para. She has also done some maintenance work in the summers at the school. Thank you for all you do and for being a big part of Stanton Community School.

Stanton Youth Volleyball Tournaments
The fall youth sport seasons are underway with games and tournaments about to hit in full force on weekends. Stanton will be hosting the 3rd-6th grade tournament on Saturday, September 21st. Our tournament will begin at 8:30 AM and last until the evening time, with 3rd/4th grade playing in the morning and the 5th/6th grades in the afternoon. With 16 total teams coming and 4 courts running all day, there are a lot of responsibilities and moving parts throughout the day. Although we do have some visiting teams help, as well as the junior high/high school volleyball teams, we will still be in need of volunteers to help run the tournament to keep things moving as smooth as possible. We are asking that parents, community members, and students to help out with these responsibilities! We will need people to take money in two shifts, from 7:30 AM-10:30 AM or from 10:30 AM-2:00 PM in both the Viking Center and the high school. We will also need people to help run scoreboards, line judge, be a main official on one of the courts, and CLEANUP at the end of the day in both the Viking Center and at the school (cleanup will begin when games are done in one gym and we move the rest of the games to the other). If you have a child participating in the 3rd/4th tournament in the morning, please consider helping out with the 5th/6th grade tournament and vice versa. There are multiple spots available and would appreciate all of the time put in if volunteers could stay on a court for two or three games.
The full schedule of games for our tournament will be released today. Please take a look at it and let me know what you would be able to help out with. I will have teams listed from other towns that will help out on some courts, but there will be courts still open all day, as well as cleanup at the end of the day. Please let me know if you have any questions about anything.
There is a reason we have this many teams each year come play in the Stanton tournament, and we would love to keep it that way with your help to keep things running smooth. We greatly appreciate your help in advance!
There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board of the lower level of the Viking Center, or click the editable, online continuously updated sheet with the link below for the 3rd-6th grade tournament September 21st.

Any contraband discovered during such searches shall be confiscated by school officials and may be turned over to law enforcement officials.
The contents of a student’s locker, desk or other space (coat, backpack, purse, etc.) may be searched when a school official has reasonable and articulable suspicion that the contents contains illegal or contraband items or evidence of a violation of law or school policy or rule. Such searches should be conducted in the presence of another adult witness when feasible.

(3) The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s educational records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
Please contact a school official for more information concerning any of these rights.
