Elks National Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest  

-due November 14, 2022 must start on line

-High school senior and U. S. citizen

The Hagan Scholarship     Due December 1, 2022

-Eligibility Requirements

1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

2. Must attend an Eligible Public High School.

3. Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average.

4. Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation.

5. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college.

6. Must work 240 hours each year, from January 1 until commencement of the fall semester in college. Employment must be regularly scheduled work performed under supervision for compensation.

7. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for Federal Income Tax Purposes must not exceed $85,000.

8. Must provide a complete copy of the FAFSA SAR showing the EFC.

9. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.

Dora Ossian Eastlack Scholarship

Candidates shall be enrolled at or intending to enroll at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln or the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  First preference shall be given to the Valedictorian of Stanton High School.  Second preference shall be given to the Salutatorian of Stanton High School.  Third preference shall be given to a graduate of Stanton High School majoring in Journalism.  Fourth preference shall be given to a graduate of Stanton High School with good academic standing.

Masonic Scholarship - due March 1

-Approximately 60 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded

-Must be a senior planning to attend an accredited institution which provides (1) a two or four year college program or (2) vocational training

-Need not have a Masonic connection

-The principal criterion is service to school and community with special emphasis upon leadership roles in these areas.

-An applicant’s record, communication skills, and need for financial assistance are also considered carefully as is an evaluation of the applicant by a school official.

-The organization, appearance, and completeness of the application itself is also a factor considered in the selection process.

-The Scholarship Selection Committee will select a number of finalists who will be asked to appear before the committee for a personal interview.

2022 Future of Iowa Agriculture Scholarship Program - February 1, 

-Applicants for “First-year Scholarships” must be entering their first undergraduate year at an accredited junior college, college or university.

-Applicants for “Upperclassmen Scholarships” must be entering at least their second year at an accredited junior college, college or university.

-Applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate or Graduate degree in a program of study that can equip the student to contribute to the agriculture industry in Iowa.

-Applicant must be an Iowa Corn Growers Association member or son/daughter of An ICGA member.

Hy-Vee Foundation ScholarshipFebruary 10

Qualified students are eligible to apply every year.

  1. Sons or daughters of full-time employees of firms that are members of the IGIA. The parent must have been employed for at least two years as of January 1, 2022.
  2. Employees (full-time or part-time) who are full-time students employed by firms that are members of the IGIA. Applicants must have worked a minimum of 300 hours during the 6-month period between July 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021.

-Applicant must be enrolling in college for the first time.

You will need to submit by February 8 of the current year:

-Completed application form.

-Personal statement describing a time when Hy-Vee made a difference in your life and/or the life of your customer(s). Minimum of 300 words, maximum of 500 words.

-Resume listing accomplishments in academics, activities, arts and athletics, community service and future post-secondary plans.

-Official transcript, which should include present student status (for example, junior second semester), last semester’s GPA and cumulative GPA.

-Test results from the ACT (American College Testing) examination.

-A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator. Although this is not a mandatory submission, it provides the judges with a more complete portrait of the applicant.

-Fifty $1,000 scholarships

-Based on academic achievement and leadership

-Eligible students must have a Red Oak, Clarinda or Villisca address

-Scholarship awardees may attend any accredited two-year or four-year college, university, technical or vocational school within the United States.

Conservation District of Iowa and Montgomery Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarships

-due Feb 10, 2023

-presented to high school seniors pursuing programs in any field of agriculture or natural resources

-local scholarship of up to $1,000

-Winners will be asked to volunteer 4 to 8 hours working in the NRCS office in Red Oak, giving students a better understanding of conservation work done through this organization.

-three state level scholarships of $1,800, $1,200, and $1,000, and $300 for each of the six regional winners

-Criteria consideration will be points: 60 points for leadership (leadership includes service, character, and self-motivation – 20 points each); and 40 points for scholastic achievement.

Montgomery County Farm Bureau Scholarship - due Feb. 3

-Two $500 scholarships

- You must be a son or daughter of a Montgomery County Farm Bureau member, or an adult member yourself.

-You must be entering college for the first time.

-You must be a high school graduate or expect to graduate in the spring 

-GPA minimum of 2.5 is necessary.

-Scholarship is not renewable.  It is payable at the beginning of the second semester of school following proof of first semester 2.0 minimum grade average and enrollment in school.

Iowa Communications Alliance Scholarships March 4, 2021

Traditional Scholarship  - The Iowa Communications Alliance is offering one $1,500 college scholarship to a high school senior who lives in a member service territory.  Our mission is to assist students from rural areas across Iowa with financial assistance to pursue higher education and to stay in rural Iowa after graduation. Member Scholarship - Along with our traditional scholarship, we are excited to announce the availability of one $1,500 scholarship to be awarded to a high school senior whose parent or guardian is currently employed by or serving as a director of an Iowa Communications Alliance “Active Member” Company! This application is also open to any high school senior who is a current employee of an ICA Active Member Company.  Our mission is to assist students from rural areas across Iowa with financial assistance to pursue higher education and to stay in rural Iowa after graduation. BANK IOWA SPIRIT OF CHANDY SCHOLARSHIP March 9

Eligibility

Applicants for the Bank Iowa Spirit of Chandy Scholarship must be high

school seniors who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of

study at an accredited four-year college or university, or a two-year junior

or community college in the fall following graduation. This scholarship

program is available to Bank Iowa customers and non-customers. Preference

will be to students who participate in the activities Chandy loved: swimming in particular, as well as biking, running and flying.

Bank Iowa will award a $500 scholarship to two deserving high school students in each of its seven

regions, for a total of 14 scholarships granted annually.

Dennis Lloyd Scholarship

-for students interested in graphic art or journalism.

This scholarship is renewable for 4 years,

provided the student maintains a "C" or above average in college. Applicants must include a transcript with the application. 

Letters of recommendation are encouraged.









 

LOCAL STANTON SCHOLARSHIPS - due March 17

 

 Double Dozen Scholarship - Academics, character, leadership and potential for growth and success.

 

Duane Falk Scholarship - Based on academics, leadership, and participation in school and community activities.   Number and amount designated annually.

 

Larmon Scholarship - Based on academic excellence and achievement in school and community activities.  Number and amount designated annually.

 

American Legion Scholarship Randy Larson - Sponsored by the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary.  Based on academic and leadership accomplishments.  Must be a relative of a veteran.

 

National Honor Society Scholarship - One member---one non-member. Based on classes taken and grades.   $100.00 each

 

Stanton Faculty and Administrators Scholarship - Must be going into an education field. 

 

Stephanie (Peterson) and Christopher Stein Scholarship - Must be attending Iowa State University. Based on moral character, attitude, leadership, activities in school, and community service.  Number of scholarships designated annually.  $500

 

Ashley and Brooke Maley Memorial Scholarship - Amount to be determined yearly. Open to all senior students.  Students may be pursuing any type of post-secondary education.

 

Class of 1963 – One scholarship given to a graduating senior from Stanton Community High School.  Students may be pursuing any type of post-secondary education.  

 

Stewart Sisters Scholarship - As alumnae of Stanton H. S., Shauna, Shalée, and ShaRee value the education they received here and feel it is important to give back. Based on academics, leadership, and participation in school and community activities.  Open to graduating high school seniors.  Submit a local scholarship application.  Number and amount designated annually.

 

Robert E. Johnson Memorial Scholarship - Based on academics, leadership, and participation in school and community activities. $500

 

Myrna Johnson Memorial Scholarship- Based on academics, leadership, and participation in school and community activities. $500

 

Brooke Engstrand Scholarship - The Brooke Engstrand scholarship established in the spring of 2013 is intended for seniors planning to further their education in a 4-year or 2-year college program, or a technical school. Brooke had a passion for music and making the most of her life and the opportunities she was given. She was involved in many activities while a student at Stanton Community School, both in and out of school.  Her love of horses and for others filled her life with joy and fulfillment. Brooke graduated in 2008 from Stanton High School.  The number and amount of scholarships will be determined yearly.  Scholarships go to a graduating senior.  Submit a local scholarship application, including a letter with personal information, post-secondary education plans, and need for this scholarship.

 

Stanton Masonic Tarkio Lodge #645 A.F.& A.M. Scholarship Endowed Fund  - This scholarship was established in 2018.  The scholarship shall be awarded to a graduating senior of Stanton Community Schools.  Applicants will submit a local scholarship application and will include a written letter containing personal information and post-secondary education plans.  Based on: Integrity, citizenship, leadership, and participation in school, church, and community activities. Amount to be designated annually. The scholarship money will be available in August of the awarded year.

 

Cassie Rae Williams Memorial Scholarship - Cassie Rae (Gilliland) Williams was a 2005 Stanton graduate, she attended college, and went out to explore the world.  When it came time to raise her family she returned to Stanton.  She joined several committees and organizations giving back to the community she loved.  Cassie was taken tragically in an automobile accident in 2019.  In her spirit of giving back this scholarship has been established in her memory.  The number of scholarships and amounts awarded will be determined on a yearly basis.  Scholarships go to a graduating senior.  Submit a local scholarship application, including a letter or essay with personal information, and post-secondary education plans.

Michelle Mead-Salley Scholarship - The Michelle Mead-Salley Scholarship was established in the spring of 2021.  Michelle lost a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer in January of 2021.  Michelle graduated from Stanton Community School in 1990.  She went on to further her education at the University of Iowa where she earned her degree in nursing.  She loved being a wife, mother, and nurse.  She loved life and gave 100% to everything she did.  She was known for her knowledge and skill as a nurse and was loved by her patients and the doctors and nurses with whom she worked. 

Terms of the scholarship:

-The amount of the scholarship will be determined yearly.

-It is open to all senior students pursuing a post-secondary education.

-Applicants will be judged on their integrity, respect for others, being responsible, and for exhibiting a good attitude.

-Special consideration may be given to students entering the medical field.

-Students are to submit a local scholarship application which includes a written letter giving information including their personal information, post-secondary educational goals, and career plans.

-The scholarship will be given after the student has completed a successful first semester and enrolled in their second semester.

IOWA AMVETS - Due March 15 

3 - $2000 Scholarships

Given on an annual basis only to graduating high school seniors.

The Scholarships may be used at any accredited college, university, area community technical or trade school.

There are no restrictions as to the course of study.

Applicants must be the son, daughter or grandchild of a current Iowa AMVET or new Iowa AMVET member. Stepchildren, foster children and other children dependent upon the member for support, and living with the member in a regular parent-child relationship, are eligible. 

Southwest Iowa Educational Foundation

– due March 15  

-$1,000

-Applicants must be in the top 25% of their graduation class and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

-Preference will be given to students who plan a career in the field of education.

 

Meredith Communications Southwest Iowa Scholarship – due April 2

-available to students who are graduates of a southwest Iowa high school who wish to further their educational pursuits at a college, university, business or vocational training facility

 

Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF) - April 15, 21

The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) is proud to support the Health Care Careers Scholarship program. These scholarships of up to $7,000 ($3,500 per year for a maximum of two years) each have supported higher education for more than 300 Iowa college students.

 The ultimate goal of this program is to fill Iowa health care positions that currently have a notable number of openings by offering significant financial support to students seeking health care education. In exchange for that financial support, each award recipient must commit to working one year in an Iowa hospital for each year of scholarship award.

 Placement opportunities will be identified for each IHA geographic district (a map is included with the application).  Scholarship applications will be scored and awards made based on each applicant’s qualifications.  All portions of the application form must be submitted byApril 15.

All applications will be submitted online at the IHERF scholarship website https://iherfscholarship.fluidreview.com/   which will help students confirm their eligibility before beginning the application process.  This will allow for electronic submission of their application, college program verification and references.

 

Page County Cattlemen Scholarship – due March 30

-three $1,000 scholarships

-for students in Page County whose family is involved in the beef industry, and is a member of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association

 

P.E.O. ScholarshipMarch 31

A woman is eligible for consideration of a local P.E.O.

Scholarship provided she:

• Exhibits excellence in leadership, extracurricular

activities, community service, academics, and

potential for future success

• Is in the final academic year (senior year) of her

secondary education and is 20 years of age or under

• Has a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0

on a 4.0 scale

• Plans to attend an accredited post-secondary

educational institution 

 

Montgomery County Pheasants Forever Scholarship - due April 1

-$250 scholarship 

-must be a senior planning to attend a college or trade school requiring more than one semester

-Qualifications include a one page or less, word processed, essay summarizing your appreciation of conservation, wildlife, and the outdoors.  

-All students are encouraged to apply

 

Stephanie (Peterson) and Christopher Stein Scholarship 

(this is one of the local scholarships)

The Stephanie (Peterson) and Christopher Stein Scholarship was established in the spring of 2001 in memory of Stephanie (Peterson) and Christopher Stein.  Stephanie was a 1991 graduate of Stanton High School.  Stephanie and Christopher were 1996 graduates of Iowa State University.

-two $500 scholarships

1. The scholarship(s) shall be awarded to graduating seniors of Stanton Community Schools.

2. Applicants shall pursue a four-year degree at Iowa State University.

3. Applicants will submit a local scholarship application, which includes a written letter containing personal information, post-secondary education plans, and the need for the scholarship.

4. Applicants shall have been accepted at Iowa State University and plan to attend in the fall of the current year.

5. Applicants shall be judged as follows:

50% Good moral character, attitude, and leadership

50% Activities in school and community service

Special consideration will be made for students majoring in entomology.

Teacher of Tomorrow - One $500 ScholarshipThis scholarship is for any Iowa high school senior aspiring to teach and will be awarded on the basis of the student’s career goal as an educator, academic record, accomplishments, and community involvement. 
Ed Christian Memorial - One $100 Scholarship The Ed Christian Memorial Scholarship has been created to assist a high school senior student who is pursuing a career in a scientific field in either a two or four year college or university.
Educational Persistence - One $500 Scholarship This unique award is for high school seniors or students currently enrolled as education majors and requires a recommendation from a PEI member
College Book Scholarship - Ten $100 Scholarship This scholarship drawing will be awarded to students who will graduate from high school during the 2020-2021 school year.

-One scholarship of at least $1,000 will be awarded each year to a senior of the graduating class from Stanton Community High School who is enrolled to attend a four-year undergraduate college or university, recognized and accredited by the Board of American Colleges and Universities.

-The scholarship is not dependent upon grades/GPA.

-The scholarship is not dependent upon financial need.

-The scholarship is not dependent upon gender, race, religion or family background.

-The scholarship will be awarded to the student who exemplifies a combination of Integrity, Character, Scholarship and Athleticism.

-The Don & Ken Schenck Scholarship Trust Application should be accompanied by two letters of character reference.

-Activities Record must be completed and submitted along with the application.

-Personal interviews will be arranged by the Trustees.

-Should you be eligible to receive another scholarship, such as a Pell Grant, which would conflict with and reduce the monies received from that scholarship, then the Don& Ken Schenck Scholarship will be awarded to someone else.

-The Ashley and Brooke Maley Memorial Scholarship was established in the spring of 2003 in memory of Ashley and Brooke Maley who were students of the Stanton Community School.

– Amount determined yearly

-Open to all senior students

-Students may be pursuing any type of post-secondary education

-Applicants will submit a local scholarship application, which contains a letter stating information about their family, their educational goals and career plans, their work experience, and their reasons for applying for the scholarship.

-The scholarship will be paid to the student after completion of the first semester of college.
